    A food bank is a charity that collects, stores, and distributes food to people in need
  • Who can access Sevenoaks Foodbank?
    Food banks typically distribute to individuals and families in need, including those facing financial hardship, low-income households and those experiencing temporary crises. Here at Sevenoaks Foodbank, anyone can come and receive food; referrals are only necessary for those looking to become regular clients
  • Is there a cost to receive food from Sevenoaks Foodbank?
    No, food is provided free to individuals and families in need
  • Can I come to Sevenoaks Foodbank without a referral?
    Yes, absolutely. We are here to provide food and support when you need it. It would be helpful if you could email us in advance before your first visit (click here) but if you cannot, don’t worry, just show up. If you need to come regularly, we will ask you for a referral and explain how to get one on your first visit
  • What is a referral and how do I get one?
    A referral is done to confirm your need for Foodbank support. It includes a review of your income and expenditure. People typically get a referral from their local housing authority (e.g. West Kent Housing Authority) or Citizens Advice or a debt support charity.
  • Where do I find Sevenoaks Foodbank?
    We are located in the community hall next to St John the Baptist Church. It is at the junction of St John’s Hill and Quakers Hall Lane in Sevenoaks. The postcode is TN13 3TX. Click here for a map
  • When is Sevenoaks Foodbank open?
    We are only open on Thursdays. Food can be collected from 1.00pm to 3.00pm
  • Can I bring my children to Sevenoaks Foodbank?
    Of course, we welcome children but we require you to take full responsibility and have control of them at all times
  • Can I bring my dog to Sevenoaks Foodbank?
    Sadly, we do not allow dogs into the Foodbank
  • How can I donate food?
    You can donate food by dropping off items at the Foodbank on Thursdays between 11.15am and 12.30pm or at Howden Insurance at the junction of the High Street and Pembroke Road during normal office hours. Thank you!
  • What types of food can I donate?
    We accept non-perishable items such as canned goods, dry pasta, rice, cereal, as well as cleaning products and toiletries. We also accept fresh fruit and vegetables. Unfortunately, we do not have fridges or freezers so we cannot accept fresh meat or frozen food Click here for a list of items we would love to receive.
  • How do I donate money to the Foodbank?
    Yes, monetary donations are always appreciated! Your financial contributions allow us to purchase food in bulk and provide assistance to more families in need Click here to donate; we use the Charites Aid Foundation ("CAF") to manage our donations
  • How will my money be used?
    Sevenoaks Foodbank is managed and operated entirely by volunteers (no salaries). We receive use of the community hall free of charge (no rent), so every penny of your donation goes to supporting the Foodbank and its clients
  • How do I know if my donation has been received?
    You should receive an acknowledgment email confirming your donation if you have donated electronically. Contact us if you have not received this
  • How can I volunteer at the Foodbank?

  • What tasks can I help with as a volunteer?
    Volunteers can help with sorting food donations, organising food drives, assisting with distribution, helping us raise money and more
  • Is there a minimum age to volunteer?
    The minimum age to volunteer is 18. Volunteers under the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult
